When I attempted my leading hands back in the early 90's I went to the central library and they had all the manuals there.

Yep, we have them at work, just want my own set, so I can draw and highlight in them :-)

Caius Petronius, Roman centurion, AD69
We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganised. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganising, and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress, while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralisation. aint modernisation a wonderful thing!! Be an example to your men, in your duty and in private life. Never spare yourself, and let the troops see that you don't in your endurance of fatigue and privation. Always be tactful and well-mannered and teach your subordinates to do the same. Avoid excessive sharpness or harshness of voice, which usually indicates the man who has shortcomings of his own to hide. Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, Wehrmacht General, 1891-1944
