Hampshire FBU and HFRS have come to joint agreement with changes to retained firefighters contracts. These changes refer to the retaining fee paid to a retained firefighter for their availability.
All retained firefighters who give availability of over 119 hours per week will continue to receive 100% retaining fee. In addition to this management have stated that they intend to award an extra three 12 hour blocks of leave to firefighters who fall into this category.
Retained firefighters who give between 70 to 119 hours availability a week will receive 75% of the retaining fee. This figure has been reduced from the previous HFRS requirement to provide between 83 hours to 119 hours.
Furthermore a third tier has been created whereby a firefighter may share a FTE post. This post share will mean that firefighters who give availability of up to 69 hours per week will receive a 50% payment. It will also mean that retained Crew Managers and Watch Managers are also able to share a FTE post. This option will not prevent two post share firefighters attending the same incident or training and will give individuals greater flexibility should they wish to reduce their availability below 70 hours.
Please refer to your local union official should you have any further questions with regard to this issue
