You have probably met or heard of Andrew Impey.
He is an eleven year old boy looking to visit every fire station and fire service related establishment in the UK.
If you are a user of Facebook, you may have seen many of his visits to different stations across the country on his Facebook page 'One Lad's Challenge'. It looks like the fire service across the UK is welcoming him with open arms and treating him to a great day out wherever he goes.
Both Andrew and his mum are supporters of the FBU and have been to see their MP, Penny Mourdant (remember her, just one of the many fire ministers we've had over the years) to promote and publicise various FBU National and local issues on our behalf.
One of the ways Andrew likes to thank the Fire Service for it's embracing values is by raising money for the FF's Charity. He is about to undertake another sponsored event. I'll let Andrew tell you about it in his own words:-
"Next Wednesday I will be setting off from Havant Fire Station at 10.00, riding 133 miles over the next three days and finishing at Barnet Fire Station in North London at 16.35 on Friday afternoon.
I'm hoping some fire fighters will join me on my bike ride if they can - even if it is just for a few miles.
If you can't join me, but would like to support the ride you can donate money for the Fire Fighters Charity on my Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/oneladschallenge. Please share this post with people you know to raise awareness of the Fire Fighters Charity."
Hope you are well
Take care
