He warned : Be careful of opening Pandora's box , they are after the pension and the rest of the COS.
Now to be fair I don't think even he could have stemmed the onslaught that austerity has delivered but I think he would have handled John Prescott in a different way than the FBU leadership of the time did.

Yes I agree as I said ns he was a man from different times.
It would be unfair to compare him in todays world, where his influence would not be anything like the same.
But none the less he guided us through some scary timers in the 80s, and he led a small trade union wich was respected in all quarters for different reasons.
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

Yep, Pandora's box, eventually opened and in my opinion proved to be the righteous decision.
Chris Perfect - Josephene (RIP) and others campaigned for it for years.
They came for the pension and COS, but would of done anyway.
