Firefighters & Cancer
#1
Hi
just joined your Forum.
I am currently working on a research project for Cancer Incidence for Scottish & UK Firefighters.
The research is asking for the completion of a short questionnaire from colleagues or their family
Who Have Cancer / Who Have Had Cancer / or who have sadly passed from a cancer disease.
access to the questionnaire and any specific information can be obtained from my research e-mail
firefighterscancer@icloud.com

There are many reports and outcomes recorded for the cancer risks to firefighters from "smoke" contamination at incidents. other countries around the world recognise this increased risk and have also passed presumptive legislation to provide firefighters with certain cancer the compensation and assistance they deserve.

We are currently working on Scotland & UK specific cancer research projects to challenge the position here in the UK. Currently cancer risks to our firefighters is not acknowledged or recognised, we are working to challenge this attitude.

please assist firefighters & cancer projects and let any serving or retired colleagues know about the research that is being done to make positive future changes to the health & Wellbeing of firefighters.
Regards
Iain

Hi
There are slightly different questionnaires for Scotland, England / Wales.
So it’s better that interested colleagues contact the email address to get the form
Sent out, this process also allows ethical use and agreement for confidentiality to be
Confirmed between the research and the participant.

If this helps to get some form of cancers classified as “ occupational diseases “ then that’s a step in the right direction
Thanks Iain

Indeed.
In sfrs the management team (and union) also think it's ok to force employees to carry smoke contaminated PPE in their family vehicles.
Some posters on here have been laughed at by others for raising these concerns.
Counting down the days.

If anyone might be willing to speak to me on this subject, please get in touch at daniel.colbourne@bbc.co.uk

Many thanks!
