A London fire brigade station managers parting e-mail (names redacted if negative comment made)
#11
When I was a WM,I was ordered by the Borough Manager to give a firefighter who had given 30 years of exemplary service, a stage 1 disciplinary for sickness just a week before the firefighter was going to retire.
I refused to issue anything and told the GM to come and do it himself.
The GM didn’t take up my invitation.

This is the problem. I was told I had to update a number of things in the diary and the same SM then had me charged with falsehood! Go figure!

He is not the only person that has felt like this when leaving the LFB. I certainly had similar feelings towards certain senior management. I just didn't email everyone!

How would you feel if you was given and 18 month final written warning 11 days before you retired? Made me feel like "Duck you LFB"
I had to take it to appeal after I retired, won my appeal, 18 month warning quashed. This was all because 2 senior officers were trying to make names for themselves for their next round of promotions!

Yep to LFB question.

Also yep to experiencing dross senior officers promoted for all the wrong reasons.

Like you I also wouldn’t email everyone bleating about it on retirement though which was my point..
