On March 21 2023 just before 17.00, a fire appliance in Derbyshire was involved in a serious road traffic collision that left Sister Alyson Hill, the officer in charge, with life threatening injuries.
Due to the swift actions of all those on the scene from all emergency services, Alyson was airlifted to Northern General Hospital, where she is now recovering well. Unfortunately, the incident left Alyson with numerous broken bones and injuries, including the loss of her left arm. This means that her injuries will be life changing. The Fire Brigades Union is providing all the support it can to Alyson and her family, and all others involved in this incident, along with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
In the meantime, many FBU members have wanted to make donations as a show of support and solidarity to Alyson. This donation system has been set up by the Fire Brigades Union in order to facilitate this.
Please support Alyson as she continues to recover from this incident
