So an interesting start to a new Labour Government (how I feel sad for the poor farmers that own all of the land around my village when they talk in the local pub of the latest top of the range Land Rover they have bought or their up coming shooting party on a Sunday)
![]() That rant aside we will now see if reafiiliation has given us any sway or influence over this Labour Government? 2002/03 was under a Labour government, will the members need to do the same again? Lets hope not.

Clearly they are targeting the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, who bought farm land and property to avoid paying inheritance tax. These people don’t tend to buy smaller farms that will remain free from inheritance tax, they buy larger farms. But in order to mitigate as much as possible those few genuine larger farm owners labour halved the normal inheritance tax, and have given the farmers 10 years to make the payment free from interest. To much of our variable farm land is not being farmed properly due to this, and to many wealthy people have abused this “loophole”. If only it was possible to prevent this misuse of farmland and avoid this tax, but apparently this has proven to be impossible.
