Dora Gilmour cook Glasgow/ Strathclyde

For those who worked in Glasgow/ Strathclyde brigade and knew Dora Gilmour I received a phone call from her son to say Dora sadly passed away on Friday 10 January. Dora worked at the north fire station until it closed in 1984 then moved to Springburn. When I find out Dora’s funeral arrangements I will post them on here.

RIP Dora.

Dora was a very special woman Ns. Myself and another two ffs made a point of getting her out for a meal and good chat about old times after her husband Alan died. Alan was a van driver for Strathclyde. But sadly she lost her mobility and we were reduced to visiting in her home, due to Dora suffering from poor mobility. Anyone who knew Dora would never forget her, she was a lovely woman, many thanks for your post Ns.

For anyone who knew Dora and is thinking of going to her funeral it won’t be until February some time. I was in contact with her son Alan last night and Dora’s death has been reported to the procurator fiscal and her autopsy won’t take place until 30th January.
I will post on here the details of Dora’s funeral. I have also kept Aye ready chairman Bob Wright informed, and Bob kindly did a wonderful obituary on the aye ready site, and all members have been emailed.
