Firefighters save million of pounds worth of cars in car park fire

Firefighters saved millions of pounds worth of new cars when they tackled a fire in a three storey car park belonging to a car auction centre on Waterside Way in Wimbledon, SW17 last night.

The car park contained over 2000 top-of-the range cars but firefighters quickly got to work and managed to limit the damage to only 15 vehicles.

Watch Manager Patrick Ackroyd, from nearby Wimbledon fire station, who was at the scene said:

“We got to the scene quickly and crews worked incredibly hard to bring the blaze under control. If it wasn’t for the speedy actions of our firefighters, the owners would have lost millions of pounds worth of stock and I’d imagine the auction house would have been out of action for quite some time.â€￾
