London fire brigades busiest day since world war 2 yesterday.

“Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.”

Big Grin
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

Some of the coverage shown on national tv is quite unbelievable. People who have lost their homes, memories, and communities. Surely with rising temperatures this should have been predictable, and yet it seems that the only measures put in place prior to this were cutbacks by bean counters and politicians. Yet the cutbacks are hardly mentioned, yet they played their part in what unfolded.

The fire service budget is tiny in national terms. Last year we spent £3.13 billion on fire cover whilst our foreign aid budget was almost four times larger. From a GDP of £2.16 trillion thats a pittance. Surely it’s time for a rethink, time to spend more on fire cover, starting with paying our ffs a decent wage.

Since Grenfel tower this government has cut the LFB's budget by £25m per year, but this Government blame Khan the mayor because he is in charge of London.
I don't really like Khan but government Contol his budget. Because it's a conservative government and Labour Mayor they deliberately undefined him (London & tfl) to make it look like he is failing. This is just the same as the NHS, undefined it so it looks like it is failing to try and justify privatisation !

What happened to AssetCo who were supposed to provide emergency crews in the event of shortage of fire cover in exceptional circumstances...not just strike action?

The budget for the Met Police for 21/22 is just over £4 billion, which is bigger than the total UK Fire service budget. It will go up to£4.27 billion next year, which shows how much this bunch of idiots thinks of the fire service. They’re always quick to pat people on the back after major disasters but don’t give the financial support the service needs and deserves.

3 trucks. 3 fecking trucks.
Where was the resilience?
Didn't they see the news reports for the week before?
Didn't they pre plan?
Or did they just carry on as normal and hope for the best?

39 pumps off due to lack of riders

16 firefighters required hospital treatment, many many more pushed beyond what would be considered safe working practices. (but carrying on despite that)
Attendance times forgotten putting peoples lives, homes and business at the ultimate risk.

3 trucks left. That is a DISGRACE.
