FBU Conference 2012

oldballroomdancer, post: 310198 Wrote:Yes the delegates passed by a very large majority the paper on pensions by the EC.

This means that the delegates who represent the membership of the union backed the EC and negotiators stance on negotiations and the way they are handling the whole issue of pensions and backed the strategy being followed.

It appears MW,AD and the EC are not out of touch with the membership after all as some on here were suggesting. Smile

Of course it goes without saying that you can only "be in touch" with what you are told.

Well if the delegates who represent the membership disagreed with what they have been told or did not like what is going on then they were very quiet about it today.

As I said the FBU position and the way they are handling things was endorsed by a large majority.

Conference has spoken.

Excellent news for the FBU leadership.

You weren't one of the small number who went home in the huff after yesterday were you pp?

What did you do about trying to get them to return to the fold?

Or where your actions/paper designed with just that in mind?

Did you like them going off "in the huff"?Funny but if you walk out of conference when a Minister is speaking it shows solidarity & bravery. When its done to the Top Table its a huff!

And when you pack your bags and go home with the rest of conference to go... it's childish and does your cause no good...so huff was the correct word to use.

Things did not go your way so we're off...not hanging around for pay and pensions...you know the major issues facing members....oh no we're away in the huff

Proved a point to a lot a conference today though...even ones who voted against the reorganisation paper were pretty appalled at a small few and their selfishness.

Anyway...conference has spoken once again Wink

If you use your logic retrospectively then conference endorsed the 2003 pay agreement.

If that is true then why was there a bloody cull leading to the rise of the current encumbents at senior level?

Conference can only vote on what is put before it. God knows what standing orders ruled out.

Mark my words, there will be EC casualties over the way this re-org business was handled. Some of those sat there as EC members will not be there by next conference. Just the facts.

Yes recall conference in Glasgow did endorse the 2003 pay deal

Only 12 brigades voted against.

Conference votes on resolutions and EC statements and also amendments.

The amendments to the reorganisation paper fell and the EC paper was endorsed without amendment.

The pensions paper was hugely endorsed today and not a lot of opposition I have to say from the rostrum.

Your brigade committee was free to submit emergency resolutions or amendments if they wanted to.

As for casualties over the reorganisation paper

Don't know how or even why that would happen...it was a conference decision and now the rules will be amended to take account of conference's decision.

Thats the way it works.

If it was my delegate that walked out (without being instructed by the members to do so), I'd be mighty P'd off.
I'd also feel the same about my delegate if he/she were to start a brawl.
Remember, half the people you know are below average

I'll ask again.
So what did you do to get them to return to the fold?

I will be doing nothing for those who act in such a childish manner.

Grown up adults they are meant to be.

They did not like what conference did so they have walked out, packed their bags and left with 2 days of conference to go.

Disgraceful antics and really does make you wonder if it's members or themselves that they put first.
