Chris Perfect-Josephine- up the farm- RIP
#31
Just noticed that I missed the anniversary of Chris’s death on the 18th of January.
Well I suppose that's what time does as it passes.
But some on here miss Chris, he was the life and soul of this forum.

RIP Chris Perfect, hope you are in a much better place.

Sorry I should have also mentioned that we have lost other members over the years. I was a bit annoyed with myself for missing Chris’s anniversary, hence my oversight.

But sadly over the years some are not here anymore, and some of us are missing them to.

Pyro, PX, and NoJag to name a few but there are others we know of and some we don’t.

To all of them

Your words can still be found on here.

RIP.

Oh how this place has changed without the auld git.
I only wish I had got a chance to meet him, and his family.
I was heading down in the April after Chris’s death.

RIP Chris Perfect.

Chris was perfect company, no pun intended. From the first time we met there were never any lulls in the conversation. Having a session in the pub with him was an absolute joy. Nothing seemed to faze him, and he was almost always smiling and being happy, which might surprise people who just judged him from his persona on this site. I have to say that I miss the argumentative old sod, and this site is definitely poorer for his absence. I'd like to think that this site would get another like him to encourage people to join in the conversations, but I really don't think that this will happen. Chris really was a one-off. Just ask anyone who has met him, and I'm sure that they would agree!

I had my squabbles on here with the auld git, 1973 as you well know.
But I held him in high regard. I did not always agree with Chris, as a matter of fact we disagreed on almost everything. But the fact that I remember him with affection, and miss him on here speaks multitudes. Also the very fact that I and others come on here every year to commemorate his memory, says it all for me. If I ever had been fortunate enough to have met the auld git, I would have no doubt that for all our differences I would have liked him immensely. I liked his honesty, his loyalty, and his wit at times, all commendable traits. Though you and I both know he supported the wrong football team Smile and as I found out once you could have a dig at Chris, but not Chelsea.

Yes, ardent Chelsea yet his good lady wife Haidee was, and still is, an Arsenal fan like me. She joined my family when we went on a tour of The Emirates stadium one Saturday afternoon when the match was being held the next day. She is a very interesting person too, and they made a lovely couple. What I remember is him often repeating that "You'll miss me when I'm gone", almost as if he was fore-telling the future. He was right, of course.

The auld git was always right, well he told me that when I disagreed with him. Smile

I used to enjoy the tussles he had with NN, they were priceless.
I suggested to him once on the phone, that if they ever met Chris and nn would probably get on fine, reply from Chris. “ I have to go now Bill”

And credit to NN I remember well his post on Chris’s obituary thread.
NN showed immense sensitivity, and absolutely no hypocrisy in that post.
And when you consider the arguments they two had, I thought that was kind of NN to do so. These days are gone on here now.Sad

My favorite anecdote from Chris was how he got his Fire Service nickname, when asked a technical question about how a particular piece of equipment worked his answer was "Don't ask me, I'm simple" and from that point on no one ever called him Chris again henceforth he was known as "Simple" even by senior officers, and in the tradition of the service it was not an insult but an ironic honorific Big Grin
