What are the lads going to think when they see this? The money's no good either! And it's too tight around my bo*****s as well. Need more ball room"

The uniform denoted a firefighter not an employee of the fire service, now you can't tell who is a secretary, mechanic or a firefighter.

Civvies take more pride in it simply because they are pretending to be something they are not!
I know FFs in my brigade, who now see the uniform of a FF as being devalued. Some even try wearing medal ribbons to show the difference, but with civvies even being awarded medals these days evn that is not enough.

As far as I am aware the project to find a national uniform is all but complete. However this does not mean that your Brigade has to sign up to it. Individual FRS will be looking at the proposed new uniform styles and making a choice. Again as I understand it you can choice to sign up to the whole thing or just one part of it I.E. Working Rig or fire kit. I have to say based on what I have seen so far im not impressed, there are many Brigades around the country who already have better uniforms than the ones being peddled here.

as others have said, i remember doing my bit and filling the survey in
at the time i'm sure there was a "running total of votes" which was clearly up for a dark blue (black?) shirt and some sort of undress uniform for funerals etc how it ever became grey i'll never know ! |
