Chris Perfect-Josephine- up the farm- RIP

1973, post: 422498, member: 16 Wrote:Thanks for flagging this up Bill. I bet the grumpy, argumentative old sod is still causing mayhem in Heaven! I remember you saying that this site lost a valued member when Up the Farm/Josephine left us, and you were right. I plodded on contributing for a while after Chris left us, but I started to realise that I had become a yesterday's man, out of touch, not getting the information from serving members that I used to get, and went from being a regular contributor to just looking in when I remembered. I am now in my 51st year of membership of the FBU and very proud of it too! It is so sad to log in these days and find two or so other people online, rather than the dozens that there used to be, but maybe people haven't got so much to complain about these days, or issues that they need to fight. I think that maybe I am just being charitable, but what do I know anymore? Best wishes to all members of this site for now and the future. I'll still keep popping in.
Well in many ways you sound just like myself.
Yesterdays man feels appropriate 1973.
The world is moving on so fast, and trying to keep up with all of the changes gets more and more difficult. Also when you get to our age you start to think that possibly winding down, taking things easier, letting the younger ones get on with their lives may well be the best thing to do. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel that we are merely interfering in things that don’t actually affect us anymore.
However I felt really strongly about the post office/ Horizon issue. I felt that something had to be said on here. A terrible affair.
So yes I will look in, look to see Wallys post on the ff lottery, and get on with this thing called retirement. Bye the way 1973, I was pleased to hear that you are now fully retired after working 54 years. Happy retirement, hope it lasts for many years.
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

Thank you very much Bill, and I wish the same sentiments to you too mate.
Be who you are and say what you feel...because those who matter... don't mind...and those who mind... don't matter.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something.

Opinions are like arseholes; everybody has one, but nobody wants to hear anyone elses.

Being honest may not get you a lot of friends but it'll always get you the right ones.

Here you go Bill, Josephine soon after he joined the Service…..he’s talked about often when I meet up with ex colleagues, usually at funerals but also at the odd reunion…. he was a very knowledgeable guy but was a very happy man who preferred sitting at the steering wheel or the back seat of the pump.
Hope all is well with you Bill…stay safe
