Well Conference is not about pleasing the top table.
The top table are there to carry out the decisions of Conference. Period

our brigade vote was close, think someone said it was 8 to 7 in favour of the resolutions, i personally had misgivings from the strike and the way that sections voted, although the officers and the retained also sided with girlywrist but apparantly we aint talking about them. Whilst all this nonsense is going on, the employers plot behind the scenes about the payrise and getting people to volunteer for coresponding. I wonder whether the right way to go is to have one EC member that represents all three equality sections, that way the representation issue is closer to the lowest regional member figures

"London voted against the resulotions at the last LRC"
Which is odd as they were one of the proponents of at least one of them.
If in doubt, hide! If they find you, lie!
Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it, ignorance may deride it, malice may distort it, but there it is.

Were the resolutions about sections pulled ?
If so,I believe many members will view it as the EC pulling strings to ensure the status quo. This may be the straw that broke the camels back for many rank and file members. Many FBU members I speak to are more aggrieved about this than any other issue facing the service. I expect the employers to try to F**k us over,I certainly will not accept an organisation I contribute funds to, doing it. The decision to pull these resolutions could prove more damaging to the FBU than Gilchrists decision to cancel strikes during the last national dispute.

stay strong....
The issue of the sections has not gone away, let's just say that the best way to reform the workings of "our" union is to have a rule change that allows for one member one vote. That will ensure that in future the dogs tail will not wag the dog. There is more than one section and it may have been wrong to have worded the resolution calling for changes to the two minority parties. Let's not give our enemies the opportunity to attack our union for being rascist or homophobic. We know that the reasons for change are not because anyone is rascist or homophobic it is just so wrong that a section with 200 members can overturn a region with 7000 members. Conference 2008 is a rule change conference. Make sure that the resolution is put forward for that rule change to take place.
