COVID-19 on station
#1
What advice/procedures has your service taken to minimize the risk of spread of COVID-19 amongst frontline operational staff and the public?

Are they being reactive or proactive? Changes to work routines? Interaction with public events? Home fire safety? Station cleaning routines?

Wash yer hands and don't breath in someone's sneeze spray is about it.

Don’t forget the “martyrs”....... the ones that come into their work when they have some form of lurgy and spread it to everyone around them....

Gotta be worth a skate, self isolate for 2 weeks, no disciplinary action, happy days brown card leave.

I hear there is a big panic in a Station in Edinburgh, someone kissed their dog that sniffed the ass, of a person that was sitting beside someone that shook the hand of a person that has Corona.
Stay away from Marionville.

China builds hospitals and quarantines 100 million people, Italy locks down 16 million, a quarter of the population, meantime we nip in and out houses of the most deprived and vulnerable in our communities, which is fine for the time being. But what are the contingency plans for 2 weeks time when this explodes like it has in Italy ??
This is not just another strain of influenza like many people think, this is bigger than the Spanish Flu of 1918. The WHO has the casualty fatality rate rounded down to 3.4% .
I hope I'm being melodramatic here, but I seriously think we're in for the shock of our life's as the NHS collapses and marshal law ensues.

Majority of poll responses state we don’t trust damagement over covid-19 response.

But you’re happy to have a pop at them for implementing measures at Marrionville?

I hope there is no need in the end. But considering how many people we come into contact with every shift, from all areas of our communities, I’d rather we were a bit overly cautious.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not having a pop at them, I’m just wondering why it’s all cloak and dagger, and there seems to be a total blackout on it, I hear the station was closed completely for a while, I’m willing to accept that the service is great for rumors and I’m part of that by spreading it, if anyone can say I’m wrong then I’ll hold my hands up.

Mate, I was just discussing covid this morning with my watch, it's not a case of if it comes, it's a case of when and the best thing we can do is to try and delay it. We are all of the opinion that as an organisation, we should already be knocking HFSV and non essential travel on the head. The WHO have stated " THIS IS NOT A DRILL " the time to take action is now. My daughter has just sent me a message to say UWS in Hamilton has just had its first case.
This thing isn't going away and is being massively underplayed in the press. I firmly believe there is a D notice in place regarding the lethality of this virus. Again, I may just be being paranoid and I hope that's proved so, I can live with the shame, but I've seen the videos out of Wuhan and Iran weeks ago that have all now mysteriously disappeared from the net. This is a global threat currently affecting 104 of the 195 countries worldwide and we have no protection against its onslaught.
