Has anyone had any information from SPPA regarding whats happening with our pensions now ? I have tried emailing the SPPA twice and both times i have been told they are too busy to answer individual queries but it will be sorted by October 2023 !!! Simply not good enough especially if you are due to go before then. Also tried the FBU but as usual didnt even answer.

Don't hold your breath. Unlikely to see much movement on this unless legal challenges go in to force hands....

Warby sorry to hear of your problems, you are in a position brought about by a government who’s idea on what justice is falls short of what any decent person would subscribe to.

But sadly you seem to be having a go the the SPPA who are merely the conveyors of what the outcome will be, and the fire brigades union who against all the odds fought a long hard battle to win this case on your behalf. The fact that there is a lack of information, or movement on this, is not the fault of either of these bodies. I have always found the SPPA extremely efficient and helpful, not only with my personal queries, but when I was involved in our commutation issue.

Your frustration and rightful anger should be directed at our government who have neither acted in good faith or with an sense of decency on this matter.

The sad fact is this is a mess initially created by the government, and this same government are dragging their heals over this, and it’s deplorable. You and others should never have been put in this position in the first place, and it’s time that some who seem hell bent on spinning this out to its eventual conclusion got their fingers out and did the right thing.

I hope you get this sorted soon, and have a long healthy and happy retirement when it comes.
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

I heard that at conference they had decided to take each brigade to court that weren't applying the remedy.

Hi Bill, thanks for your reply as always your posts make good reading but at the end of the day the SPPA administer our pensions and i feel as administrators they should at least answer my individual questions with regards to my pension as i can at present plan for anything as i dont know what scheme i will retire into.
As for the FBU yes totally agree yes they did well getting the result in court but i pay the union to represent me and when i ask them to look into something on my behalf i would expect some sort of answer .
I hope you are enjoying your retirement and hope to join you soon.

You will get justice Warby, and so will the rest of you, sadly it will be delayed, whilst the unscrupulous bar stewards twiddle their thumbs leaving you in a state of limbo and uncertainty you don’t need or deserve. I love being retired, but I also miss some of the guys I worked with over the years, and sadly some of these fine men are no longer with us.

This is true and that legal action is imminent.

Got my personal email from the FBU today about signing up for the legal challenge, good help from my local fbu rep too in trying to get my pension sorted through the complaints process, though unsuccessful, they get a bad press at times but the union have been helpful in this.

Hi, got mine as well have to question why we have still got to go through all of this again when it has already been to court and the outcome has been passed in law. I also hope this challenge applies to Scottish members as the last circular regarding the MOU only applied to England as i was told by our union in Scotland. We couldn't lodge these letters as Scotland was a devolved government and our members couldn't use the letters as the SPPA wouldn't recognise them.
