Reform
#1
My old dad used to say that greed and stupidity were a fatal combination.
We have all seen it where people are promised something that seems unrealistic, and they stake their savings on it, only to lose all they have managed to put by for their old age. In Yorkshire it’s nowt for nowt, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Well let’s run through the boiler house promises made by Reform.

You will be able to earn £20,000 before paying tax.
Two child family allowance to end.
Winter fuel allowance to be reinstated.
Tax relief on school fees.
Extra £17 billion for NHS.
Raise stamp duty threshold to £750,000
Big tax cuts for small businesses.
Scrap TV licence.

And finally the one which concerns me most, leaving the European Commission on Human Rights.

There are only two countries in Europe which are not in the ECHR, Russia and Belarus, and they were excluded after the Russians invaded Ukraine. We would be the only country to leave an organisation that was the brainchild of amongst others Winston Churchill. The ECHR has nothing to do with the EU. It was set up after the atrocities of WW2, to try to prevent what happened, ever happening again. It serves one sole purpose, to maintain human rights for us all, by ensuring that those in power are bound by its constitution. But Farage and his ilk don’t like it, because it interferes with their beliefs, and their principles and their priorities. Now before putting an X on the ballot paper just think what this means.

As for the completely unfunded financial promises made, they are part of their populist movement. But we all know what happened when Liz Truss carried out unfunded measures, the markets did not like what she was doing, and the rest is history.

Farage and Reform will promise each and every family a two week holiday anywhere they like in any hotel they like if they thought it would gain them power. This is the man who sold us Brexit, and no longer wants to discuss it, or wants us to discuss it.

HOW WILL THEY PAY FOR WHAT THEY PROMISE, AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE MARKETS REACT TO UNFUNDED PROMISES. AND WHY DO THEY WANT TO LEAVE THE ECHR, AN ORGANISATION WHICH PROTECTS HUMAN RIGHTS.

A vote for reform, is a vote to limit human rights, a vote for populist measures which are completely unfunded, promises that IF followed will damage our economy.
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

Reform are against net zero, wind farms and renewables
This from Richard Tice
“"We will attack, we will hinder, we will delay, we will obstruct, we will put every hurdle in your way. It’s going to cost you a fortune, and you’re not going to win. So give up and go away.”

Farage:
“I would advise anybody who’s working for Durham County Council on climate change initiatives or diversity, equity and inclusion or… things that you go on working from home, I think you all better really be seeking alternative careers very, very quickly.”

Since then, Reform has been accused of hypocrisy after it emerged that the party is currently advertising roles for which working from home is integral. A regional director role for Reform UK, with a salary of £50k, says the location is “Home working with occasional travel”.

Well she is a Dame now ( aka failed politician) and as turned up as the Reform Msyor of Lincolnshire and has taken a stance at odds with Farage and Tice and Reform policy on net zero

reform are a shambles but also a danger as they are winning seats across the country in local by elections etc

Thank you Ns very informative, I covered the general ground, and your more specific examples serve to underline what I was attempting to put accross. This man and his party poses a danger to this country, like nothing that has went before. I feel so strongly that if I lived in a seat where I thought voting Tory would help keep him out of no 10, I reckon I would do so. Some people are both lazy and gullible, if you have any doubt that, just look across the pond.

I know we have opposing views on Brexit, but look how he refuses to discuss it, simply labeling those who do as wingers, anti democratic remainers. He knows fine well that Brexit has been a lamentable and expensive failure. Yet people still fall for his populist nonscence.
He is a snake oil salesman an opportunistic individual, who I completely despise.

Anyone who reckons global warming poses no danger to our planet is simply flying in the face of all of the information and evidence put before us, and supported by the vast majority of the scientific community. But Nigel won’t be here when things really get bad, so it’s of no consequence to him. And if going against measures to prevent a global catastrophe will see him sitting inside no 10, then so be it.
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

Farage is bone idle
He never represents the people who voted for him
He never turns up to meetings etc
When he was aMEP and on the fisheries committee
He attended just one meeting out of 42

We should all be worried when something jocular involving the most powerful man in the world, and his pal this side of the pond, is actually not that far off the mark.
