tornado , maybe you should poll all the 'current' FBU officials and ask them truthfully their political preferrencies ?
think you will find this bunch are anti - SNP , unlike most of the members that they're supposed to represent !!
shambles !
just watch the number of members fall because of this crowd Sad

if you look through
My posts you will
See what i think
Of the current officials

Jojo says they should
Resign for taking a
Stand at the tory conference
I say they should resign
For taking a stand at
The Labour conference
And im pretty sure
Others will say they
Should resign for
Taking a stand at
The snp conference

Look at the big picture
Our union are giving
Money to every party
That have turned us over

Why do they do this
Is it because they think
They can get them to
Be onside

They will never learn

So the next time you
Look at your payline
And see FBU fees
Think how much of
That money is being
Spent on politicians
Outwith the political
Levy and then decide
Who is taking whom
For a mug

If it cost as you say
3 grand to stand at
A stall at the tory
Conference how much
do we give to Labour
SNP, Greens, libdems
For their conferences
Because the fbu will
Appear at them

Lift the phone and ask
Why yours and my money
Is being wasted trying
To get any political party
On side

I have looked through costs for attendance and stands at the Scottish Tory conference.
For individuals passes it grades three types commercial £275, non commercial £125 and media free.
You can apply for a stand at the conference on a charitable or interested party basis for free. A certain percentage of the floor is dedicated to charitable and interested party basis.
I am not saying that this is the case but it's possible that the FBU got a free stand.

I attempted to copy a link on my iPad to post on here and could not manage it.
I reckon that the Scottish FBU will have to publish any costs involved on their accounts.

If they paid the Tories money for the stand heads should roll over this.
It's completely unacceptable for the FBU to give the Tories members money.
We all have opinions, thank god they are not all the same, or there would be no debate.

The above link is were I started and after around 30 minutes got to the section dealing with the stands.
Perhaps someone more skilful with such things than me can get to the bottom of this, and copy and post it.

Why shouldn't the FBU present our case to all political parties? There's a difference between supporting a party and taking opportunities to make our voice heard.

I appreciate we might be pissing into the wind at a Tory Conference

I have nothing against the FBU attending any event held by any political party.
But where I draw the line is when the FBU use members contributions to pay for attendance at these meetings.
We have a situation were the FBU are handing over £40,000 a year to labour due to affiliation to labour, when many of their members are not labour voters. Now POSSIBLY they are handing over money to a party that are intent on changing the fire service to the determent of their members, and the general public.

I think it's important for the FBU to attempt to represent their case whenever and wherever possible, but this should not involve handing over thousands of pounds to any political party for the privilege of doing so.
